A Ring Gag

Created on by freyr

So, this is a fun little toy called a "Ring Gag". The last several tutorials have been pretty advanced and required some pretty specialized tools that not everyone has. I would like to get back to the basics and do a few simple tutorials that require no specialized equipment and easy to obtain parts. While I do use a sewing machine to sew the nylon webbing, it is certainly possible to make this project with just a needle and thread.

You'll want to keep in mind that the 1" webbing that's used as a strap in this gag isn't as comfortable as a narrower strap would be, but I believe that the wider strap is necessary to help keep the sub from twisting the ring sideways in their mouth.

If you want, feel free to use a narrower webbing.

First, round up all of your parts. I specified two 18" lengths of the nylon webbing. That should be adequate for all but the smallest or largest heads. If you have a very large head, you might want to add a couple of inches to the straps :-)

Next, sew one of the straps to the steel ring. The folds in the picture are approximately 1 inch. I like to add the third layer to ensure that the webbing doesn't fray.

Start by sewing a "box" just inside the edges of the folded area.

Then sew an "X" from corner to corner.

This is what it should look like when you've sewn on the first strap.

Here's the ring after the second strap has been attached.

Next, sew on the strap adjuster using the same technique as shown above.

It should look like this when you're finished.

I like to sew over the end of the other strap (the one that snakes through the strap adjuster) so that it doesn't fray. Remember to orient the fold in the opposite direction as the fold on the other end of the strap so that the fold is down when it's been run through the strap adjuster.

Here's the finished gag.

Here's another view of the finished gag. This is how it should look with the strap adjuster in place. Notice that the fold on the end of the strap is facing down.
